Are You Going To A Party?

So here I was in the kitchen facing my mom who was sitting at the kitchen table. My dad was watching TV in the living room. Jenny stood behind her against the kitchen door.

“So Jenny and I are going to the mall and then were gonna watch a movie at her house afterward.” I said.

“Why are you dressed like you're going to a wake?” My mom asked.
“Oh, I'm just trying something fresh. It's what all the kids are doing.” I said.
“But why do you need to be dressed like that? “ My Mom asked still skeptical.
“Stay outta trouble.” My dad said from the living room where he was on the couch watching the TV completely devoid of the rest of us.
“You’re not going to a party are you?” My Mom continued her interrogation. “

I glanced at Jenny who was rolling her eyes and basically telling me to hurry up. I almost started to sweat. It almost seemed like she wasn’t buying it.

“Don’t worry, I’m not going to a party. This is the way I want to dress now. I feel inspired to dress this way. In fact, I’m bringing my camera. I’m…”

“All Right. I believe you. See you later. Don't forget 11:00pm and call if you need your father or me to pick you up.” My mom said. “Here’s a couple of quarters for the pay phone. Have a good time!”

“Ok, thanks Mom.” I said.

“No monkey business.” My dad said from the couch.
“Don’t do drugs!” My Mom added.

Jenny and I walked out the door. The cool air felt great after all that.

“I thought we’d never leave. “ Jenny said.
“I wish she’d back off. I’m sixteen. I still feel like a moron in these clothes.” I said.
Jenny held my hand and brought me toward her and kissed me on the lips.
"Let's get on the bus." She said.
