David's Journal: 10/27/89

Today I spent a good portion of the afternoon in the Punkin Donuts parking lot shooting at least three rolls of Tri-X film of stuff that was going on. Two altercations with skinheads, the crazy preacher guy, and one Harlem cruiser idiot trying to pick a fight with some guy with Liberty spikes. Very entertaining. The cops also showed up to pick up Phoenix again, despite Chicago trying to persuade the cops from taking him.

Anna and James were with me. Anna commented how intense and focused I am when I get into my photography. I told her that's how I isolate the rest of the world! It was the perfect goth day. Overcast and cool but no rain. Anna and James asked me how I was dealing with Jenny and I basically said I dealing with her by avoiding her. Anna told me that eventually I'll have to face it. I'm just not ready to.

I hope these pics are good when I develop them Monday after school in the lab. I've been liking what I've been getting as of late. Who knows, maybe one day they could be put into a book or something. I enjoy this more than photographing Jenny for one of her aspiring modeling dream jobs. Jenny was more herself when she wanted to be a vet. That was before Charlotte started to manipulate her.

I'm thinking of submitting a few of my recent images for Lane's annual Photo Club exhibition. Last year I got third place, but I think my work is a lot better this time around. We shall see!

Later.

(That's my new phrase!)
